Exercise Programming for Older Adults by Kay Van Norman Exercise and Wellness for Older Adults, Second Edition, is an essential guide to developing, marketing and managing successful wellness programs for older adults. It helps readers shift from expectations of decline to an age-neutral focus on meeting the needs of clients at various levels of functional ability. It outlines how to increase program participation by overcoming common psychosocial barriers to engagement, and describes how to integrate all dimensions of well-being (physical, social, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and vocational) into programs. This new edition also outlines strength and power training protocols and practical strategies to engage adults in resistance training. Finally, it gives readers field tested tools to improve programming in both senior living and community-based settings. This practical application resource provides descriptions and photos for
120 land-based exercises (chair, chair-assisted, low-impact aerobic, & resistance-training), and 72 water-based exercises complete with easy to follow underwater photos.
